Thanks for the update

We had a lovely stay here a few years ago & are returning again next spring

Rate seemed on the high side (662 Euro, went ahead and paid the cash rate because the redemption value at 35k/night isn't that great -- we're using points for a suite @ the Equinox during fall foliage season instead).

But considering that valet parking, sparkling wine at check-in, and full (really outstanding) breakfast for two were included, that took the edge off the bill a little bit.

Used a SNA to confirm an upgrade into a traditional suite. The review above had me a little concerned about that room category, but we ended up getting one of the small handful of suites in the Waldhaus that faces the lake and has a nice little terrace. We had a junior suite last time and would have been equally happy with that, but I wanted to confirm something in advance and "park view suite" is the only SNA-able room.

The bar is my favorite part of the hotel. We enjoyed a full meal there last night, and it was no trouble ordering an item that wasn't on the bar menu but that we thought might be on the full-service restaurant's menu. As we were leaving, around 11 p.m., lots of fancy-looking people started coming in, presumably from some event. We stayed casual and didn't mind. Didn't seem like anyone else did either.

The pool area was also deserted in the evening, and the outdoor whirlpool (especially with no one around) was a great touch.

10/10 would stay again.
