Yes, you can tag them all the way. No there shouldn't be any issues.

The only factor for consideration is if you want to tolerate the often absurdly long wait times for SFO luggage. This may be "alleviated" if you don't have Global Entry, in which case you can "enjoy" the often absurdly long American immigration lines, meaning your bags might actually be out before you are.
