I liked the unintentional pun from the newspaper headline: 'pilot project.'

That might actually be a good idea: have the pilots stand at the gate and coordinate prompt boarding. Their calm, confident 'pilot voices' might be more effective than the gate-agent angst and guilt, in terms of persuading people to keep calm and carry on as they get on the plane.
