Another way to achieve the goal of this change without alienating existing customers would be to introduce a new status level above DM (DM+ or something like that). The requirements for that level would include meeting the spend requirement on MQD alone - no waiver. Perhaps the MQD requirement for the new level would be something like $25K, but still with a 125K MQM requirement. DM+ would have higher upgrade priority, their GUCs/RUCs would clear first, etc. That would feel more like an enhancement for a group of high spenders rather than a downgrade for a group of loyal but lower-spending customers.
