Pretty sure it wasn't a mistake. My husband also changed his name to add the Mc (we combined names), and his new passport also has the space. I think that's just how they default it now. Good to know it's not an issue with United. But hotel reservations was one thing I was worried about. It seems silly, but I really do want it to match and be all one name since that is what it is on our Social Security cards, Drivers License, credit cards, legal name change doc, etc. Guess I'll have to send the passports back. Ugh. I am a little worried they won't fix it though since it was submitted properly with no space in the first place.
