Some airport locations have an area where you can simply take any vehicle from a specific section.

In my experience, American cars seem to be more and more rare. I don't think I've had any in any of my rentals this year. I've had Kia, Hyundai, Toyota, Nissan...
I do remember getting a Jeep Grand Cherokee at JNB


As to the class questions:
* For an FCAR, you'll probably get a Toyota Camry or similar. I guess it is possible to get a Chevy or Ford.
* The ICAR would be one of many SUV's, could be a Jeep, something like a Dodge Journey...or even a Kia/Hyundai SUV. I guess a Chevy Equinox would be in that class.


Personally, I prefer an SUV, since that's what my vehicle is. I like being up higher, having a better view. But that's not for everyone.
