And then there are certain properties that even though they have a lounge where breakfast is available give Ps (and sometimes Gs) the option of breakfast in the restaurant (I'm at the Renaissance KL now as an example and later today switching over to the Doubletree KL where this option is also provided)

Huh. I find Marriott Plat to be more valuable. But I stay almost exclusively at full service properties. The breakfast benefit is basically the same. If the property has a lounge, you get the lounge breakfast. If there's no lounge, you get a restaurant breakfast, which can vary by property.
