Neither of us have status with any airline and I am traveling in Q whereas he is in O, so I am in a higher fare bucket.

However, I added his AAdvantage number to his booking. Even though there's no status, I wonder if that meant they showed more availability?

What's strange is that a lot of the seats that didn't show for me but showed for him were middle seats, so not better seats. Just more seats.
