Flew TG BKK-MEL last month and there was a security check prior to going down the ramp to the gate area, specifically looking for liquids. However, they did mention if you have an empty bottle, you can bring it through with you and fill up in the gate area.

Been doing that out of SIN as well on flights to PER. Bring an empty bottle and fill up in gate area, no issues thus far.
