Me too. And occasionally it's even excellent such as with your steak example (more often when flying up front of course, but once in awhile even in Y it's much better than I expected). On a SA flight in J there was an almond cake with chocolate frosting that was one of the best desserts I've had in a long time.

It's impossible to please everyone and there are limitations given the situation. So I guess realistic expectations help.

I suppose if I could tailor the menu to just my personal preferences, one thing I'd do is have some dinner salads as a main course option more often. I would have ham more often, particularly a piece of ham steak.
