Does anybody know what constitutes a "specialized x-ray" -- specifically, what precautions should we travelers be aware of? I'm reminded of the warning not to take old-school photographic film through TSA x-rays -- how are CBP's machines different?
At US airports of entry too, DHS/CBP has specialized x-ray machines -- hardware and software design -- that help its personnel to better detect agricultural and other organic material in transported baggage than would be the case with more commonly used X-ray technology for searching hand baggage at airport security screening checkpoints to go from landside to airside. At various ports of entry/exit, US CBP has equipment to scan even whole containers/vehicles but those are a different sort of specialized scanning technology than the specialized screening technology that they use in the open at US airports of entry.
