After one flight with the new app and its gate-updates notification enabled, I still don't know what it does. Saturday afternoon's IAD-BOS flight left an hour or so late because of weather, and I got notifications of the delay--but I didn't get any when boarding started. Isn't that what you'd want gate updates to do, since the app already tells you about delays or gate changes? Maybe this feature isn't fully switched on?
