HKG is my preferred entry into Asia for a number of reasons:

1) Don't have to deal with delays of the Chinese military arbitrarily closing down the airspace;

2) Transfer desk and security is fast and straightforward at HKG;

3) Lots of lounges to choose;

4) Despite the size, HKG is easy to walk around;

5) Departure and arrival time from YYZ is conducive to getting to the hotel at a reasonable hour, including if you have to connect in the region. Times from YVR are decent as well.

6) Language isn't as much of an issue in HKG as it is in PEK.
