A somewhat typical scanario for the type of hotel where I had my best BRG results over the years is as follows (e.g., Danang, Hua Hin):
Hyatt: $200
Expedia type site: $180
Obscure site: $100
I've been saying for a while that I'd prefer a HONEST BRG where Hyatt simply matches obscure site without giving me any grief. I don't need a 20% BRG reward if I can truly get the lowest available rate. Why should some bum pay half as much as I do, just so I get stay credit and elite benefits?
Of course obscure site rates haven't been accepted in a long time, and we're now seeing ridiculous excuses even with the Expedias.
Simply give me a HONEST BRG with match and no rewards, and I'll be happy. Of course I'm not holding my breath that this change will be accompanied by more leniency in approving claims.
