In that case, personally I think it comes down to which benefits you value more, and which airlines/routes you'd be flying.
The way I see it:
Benefits of crediting/getting *G on SQ:
-Much higher mileage accrual rate for redeemable miles (~50k for these runs vs 5k for UA)
-Lounge access on domestic itineraries within the USA
Benefits of crediting/getting *G on UA:
-Economy Plus access on United flights
-Free same-day change/complimentary upgrades
If you don't plan to do much United/USA flying, I think SQ is definitely the way to go. Others may chime in with more helpful advice, but it comes down to your personal travel schedule really.
Does SQ KrisFlier have a minimum number of segments on SQ metal annually to achieve/maintain status?
Is status/redeemable miles accumulated on actual flight miles on partners?
How is that figure of ~50K each RT calculated? Actual UA metal miles? Thanks
