I did last year from YYZ - YVR - MNL - MEL for C$1500. I thought it was good value.

Service on Philippine Airlines is quite good. A333s are being improved with one or two already in use.

Bid slightly more (say A$ or US$20) more than the minimum. That's the way to secure it.
