I had the same experience recently, although I was confirmed a table relatively quickly. Amex only offered me lunch though, so I ended up cancelling as not sure it is fully worth (as opposed to dinner) but that may be my own view.

At the end I changed this for Martin Berasategui's restaurant near San Sebastian
