Yes and No. 90 percent of the time you will get a car in your class or similar. At our location we pull the manifesr for stations in our zones and send out the reserved classes. If you book a luxury you will likely get a MKZ, Chrysler 300 or a MKT. In Presidents club we will auto upgrade them two car classes luxuary excluded. For example if the President were to book a "G" class (premium) I would give them up to a standard SUV never a luxuary.
Just a data point on my experience. Booked luxury and was originally assigned a MKT with only 11k miles before I left to get on the plane. Landed and was than assigned to a BMW 328i but it had 33k miles. It is a one way to NY.
