That is a very long trip, what with stop-overs in YVR and MNL. Over 30 hours, one-way. Are you sure the savings are worth the extra time and hassle over something with one or non- stop? Doing dummy bookings, I see other carriers with cheaper or nearly as cheap fares that would take much less time. For early October, China Airlines has the cheapest one-ways with a stop-over in Taipei. For Star Alliance, it is probably Air Canada, with a stop in YYZ.

I'd also agree about insurance if you ship something as big as a bike. It is likely that it would be changed to a new plane at MNL. Who knows what happens there?

I understand that PAL is a quality airline but that is a long flight.
