Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit agreed that I would be able to settle the payment during the check-in process.
However, if this is as common as it seems to be, it surely should be investigated into as this is an obvious bug in the system. The response by Amy seems a bit strange?
Well in my case, Sofitel Bali Nusa due noted in the email when they send the request for my CC details that should I feel uncomfortable with sharing the details via email, they can contact me via handphone and speak to them directly. At least they gave an alternative.
In the end, I just called them myself to ensure all was good and it was legitly the hotel that I called and not some random person calling me. #HigherPhoneBillCharges
