1) 'Missing Link' to open 11 August
The much delayed 'missing link' between Bang Sue and Tao Poon will finally open on 11 August. Only 1 year after the Purple line opened.....

The Phase 2 Southern extension of the Purple line of the is due for a tender in the next few months and it is expected that it will start construction in 2018.
2) Orange Line starts full construction

The 6 contracts for the Phase 1 of Orange Line were signed yesterday after negotiations between the MRTA and winning bidders.
Construction should commence in the 2nd half of the year with an planned opening date of 2023. (Add 1 year to that.Remember that this line was originally due to be tendered before the end of 2014......)
The Orange Line has started construction at a few sites so expect delays along Minburi end of Ramkhamhaeng rd.
I'm also about to lose the MRTA football field that I play sport on each week for the Rama 9 station! The sacrifices that we make.....
3) 7 lines/ext under construction by the end of 2017
I'll post a general update soon to provide a full picture. By the end of this year the following lines/exts will all be under construction;
1) MRT Blue Line ext,
2) BTS Sukhumvit line southern ext,
3) BTS Sukhumvit line nothern ext,
4) SRT Dark Red line,
5) MRT Orange line,
6) MRT Pink monorail line,
7) MRT Yellow monorail line.
