If partial upgrading is acceptable, splitting now is best.

It will create a small issue if bag waiver is needed, bt that can be resolved at checkin.
Additionally on the return the non-status passagner will not be eligible for CPU. And you will need to make sure all stay in E+ if a schedule change happens.
