Stayed here recently. Had multiple service failures at Club Lounge - yes it took one hour and a duty manager's intervention to get a black decaf coffee to me for some unfathomable reason or concierge gave wrong address to Uber so it took me an hour and 40 minutes to figure out where I was and how to get back to hotel after I got dropped off in middle of nowhere or my internet disconnected every two minutes or so for the entire stay among other hardware issues - but I'll skip that as those were probably one off unlucky issues. Other guests seemed to be enjoying themselves even when some told me they also had coffee and other service issues in lounge.
To credit senior hotel staff extremely proactive in trying to fix things. Extremely proactive so top credit goes to them for that.
Suites are big with very nice views. Decor is a little cold for me - I don't know how to explain it but it might be the amount of black tiles in bathroom. But overall the suites are nice. Nicer than ones at sheraton
Location is a little out of the way compared to Sheraton which is in the heart of cafes and massage parlors. One needs to walk 5-10 minutes before you come across anything interesting. The street to the left blooms into a Japanese karaoke quarter at night - I've never seen anything like it.
I prefer Sheraton location but Meridien one not bad. Acceptable.
Food in club lounge excellent as was the food in Japanese restaurant.
Gym is a little small with not enough heavy free weights. But acceptable.
Pool is not ok for lounging around. It is one of those tiny outdoor pools that are under the roof with few loungers around. Very little sunlight. I normally like to sit at the pool for a couple hours a day but this one not nice enough to do that.
Overall I personally had a terrible stay because of issues but I would go again because the hardware, when not broken, is ok. Most importantly senior management active in trying to rectify the chain of errors. But if the prices at ethe sheraton were similar I would stay there first. But if much cheaper I'd take Le Meridien.
