Thats a good idea/compromise and keeps in-line with DL marketing and Amex card benefits.
Another would be to even just have the waiver be a 'credit' towards the MQDs... lets say for example when you hit the waiver, you still need to spend half of the originally required MQDs to get the corresponding status level. That could also achieve the perhaps intended reduction of elites that qualify almost only via plastic?
