They came back and said they didnt have any for that concert, and that i should get someone else to try on friday for me, and if no luck then they can try on the secondary market (i assume ticket touts) which might cost a little more. I can easily find touts or secondary market tickets myself and pay more.
Not really sure what my expectations were (and i dont know what the actual service definition is), but yeah, not really much use. Also waited on the phone for about 10 mins to get this answer.
Maybe better for restaurants.
from my experience concert tickets (including ones presold by AMEX and has passed the presale window) are notoriously a "no go" for the concierge.
They basically told me the same thing, that they can look on ticketmaster.com, livenation.com and stubhub.com for tickets for me. You might as well have done it yourself as you can be picky about which ones to buy.
And for major sporting events, I haven't tried, but I doubt they can do anything other than official team sites, ticketmaster or stubhub. Also, for season ticket allocations, seat selections, etc, I would never trust this to concierge. For example, I have a "priority" allocation to purchase tickets to my school's football games. School gives me a code and ticketmaster login info to get access when the window opens. I am not entrusting concierge to be there at the opening time and pick the seat that I want.
