I had the exact same issue as the OP and I received the same canned response about needing to reach out to the hotel. Delta customer service employees need to be educated about delta.com/hotels since they clearly don't understand what it is.
I had an issue with Hertz rental bonus points not posting, turns out that Hertz didn't close the account properly. Submitted a ticket and points were there in 4 days.
