I rent about once per month, sometimes more, always out of my own pocket since I need a car when I fly to visit my girlfriend, so I'm definitely not married to Avis in any way other than avoiding the extra $ for being under 25.

Find out if your company has any other corporate agreements. You will likely be limited to only those agencies, because pretty much all of them play hardball with under-25's unless you have a corp. contract.
I'm not an Avis fan, so I rarely if ever rent from them. But, I know they are roughly on par with Hertz in terms of efficiency/service at most airports. If your company has an agreement with Hertz, look into it - #1 Club Gold is great and the ZE1 points translate into free rental days quickly. But if they don't, Avis is better than nothing...
