i thought the rule used to be flights over 250 miles had a scheduled beverage service, but that's either changed or the flight attendants have wide discretion to cancel it. BOI-SLC is 290 miles and it's very rare to see a main cabin service on that flight. That being said, I find it hilarious that on a KLM Cityhopper flight from AMS-BRU (98 miles), the two flight attendants can do a beverage and snack service for the full plane, and Delta can't do that with fewer passengers on a longer flight.
