IME the standard hasn't changed, the escort is still there although I don't actually care one way or the other. BA First provides everything I need to get me to where I have to be. I'm not buying an experience, I'm buying transportation. If people really want bells and whistles when they travel, perhaps they'd be best served using other airlines. It will stop an awful lot of stress and frustration.
