At my previous employers my department had some equipment that had a pelican case. We always considered it pretty much indestructible until we loaned the equipment to another department. The case came back damaged with a deep gouge in one side and one of the locking catches snapped in half. I never found out how it happened but it was never loaned to anyone else after that.
