This is a decent hotel, but mind you, it's the second Starwood (opened as a Westin) that was opened in China, after the Beijing Sheraton 15 years ago. The property was renovated two years ago and rebranded as a Sheraton. It's showing its age in many areas, but still has quite an impressive lobby. It's a "5 Star" (the Chinese scale) hotel, and although the rooms are large, they are not quite "lavishly" or "well" appointed.
I thought I'd never prefer a Marriott hotel to a Starwod, but in this case I'd rather stay at the Renaissance Yangtze next door.
FWIW, for the 2 stays I was there (last stay 05/2003, when I was still Plat) I was upgraded to suites (quite nice, but lacking in the modern luxuries.)
