I'm amazed no one has mentioned Salt Lake City. It's the only place I've ever visited that actually induced depression. After one evening there I wanted to slit my wrists. It's dull, it's sterile, it's hard to get a drink, and there's no one on the streets after dark. And the "cuisine" -- ugh. Don't even get me started about what they call "scones."

In general I'd have to agree with Dave_C about Brussels. Got stuck there for 3 days and we had seen and done everything there was to see and do after less than 1 day. Only the moules et frites saved us. It's a seriously overrated destination.

However, HobokenFlyer needs to reconsider Memphis, which he admits he hasn't even visited. It's not a country music town, it's a blues/rock city. Tons of nightlife. Lots of artsy stuff to do and great food, too.
