Something like this happened when we upgraded to first on a night flight from San Jose to LHR. At the desk, they moved the person in 2K to 1K so that the hubs could be across the aisle from me (I was in 2F). She insisted on having her original seat, so things were moved back to the original seating (hubs in 1K) while we were still in the lounge.

Of course when we boarded, man in 2E couldn't offer to make the change quickly enough when he saw that we were a couple, so all worked out well. ^ (I had thought it likely that someone would jump at the chance for a window seat.)
