Just booked a 1-week award stay here for Spring Break 2018.
Started my search wholly expecting to end up at the Residence Inn on Maui. About fell out of my chair when I saw this option available as an award. Wailea and Waikoloa are both among our favorite areas of Hawaii, and a week at a true resort sounds more interesting than one at a Residence Inn - nice as that property may be. (Side bonus...the kids will dig the various Big Island activities like the observatories, volcano, etc.)
Anyone know if the building and rooms are new? Or did they repurpose part of the existing Outrigger hotel for this?
The use the term "suite" instead of "villa". Are the rooms smaller than typical MVCI units? Even at MVCIs where the units are in large buildings, they still often call them "villas".
EDIT: Found a couple of my answers in the SF article. Looks like existing buildings, renovated rooms. If their photos are of a one-bedroom suite, then it's relatively similar to other MVCI's I've stayed in. It looks pretty solid all around. ^
Surely some FTer has made their way to this property by now???
