It might depend on whether you're "instantly" approved (ie, by a computer), or whether a human has to approve it, and if the latter, on whether that human (who may be in a different department) has access to your call log.
So either just try it and live with any consequences, or don't try it and take it as a lesson learned to always research or ask such things elsewhere rather than asking the company who will later make the decision.
My experience with this card is the one hand doesn't know what the other is doing. In the past I had been working on spend bonuses and called to verify the dates and they had absolutely no idea what I was talking about. Bonus points did post anyway.
