I have a LIS-MAD flight coming up on Iberia shortly, and am planning to check as a suitcase a 12 bottle cardboard wine shipper. (Filled with 12 lovely bottles of wine). It's the same style box UPS uses to ship wine. Very secure, and never had breakage issues.
I frequently bring back cases from the US to HKG in this manner. I am less familiar with Iberia and intra-EU regulations, if applicable. Anyone have any experience? Is it okay to check a case of wine as my (sole) piece of luggage on Iberia, from LIS-MAD?
I am OWE (via CX) if that helps. Thank you in advance.
I was without said cardboard/Styrofoam box when I was recently in EAS. I ended up wrapping my wooden wine-crate six-pack in a lot of bubble wrap and packing tape. I checked that bubble-wrapped-box at EAS (on IB) with no issue. The agent at check-in asked what was in the box and I answered "wine." No issue. (And it arrived at my onward US location with no issue and no breakage!)
