Does anyone know of a workaround other than calling a friend that works at Delta to see what their internal system is showing?
If you go in and start making a new booking for the flight in question you can see the seat maps in all cabins. Only on an existing booking will cabins other than the one you're booked in be blocked.
With the usual caveat that the seat map does not reflect true unsold seat availability since some people may have tickets but not have selected seats yet.
