I saw there is a JAL USA card. But can't really get a clear explanation on the 2x vs. 1x points scheme... The fees are low ($20/yr). There is also the route of SPG Amex and convert the points to JMB. Positive is no foreign transaction fee. But the annual fee is $95 after the first year.

Any thoughts?? I probably would use the card for around $3000 per month, and want to earn some points for free flights on JAL. No foreign transaction fee is nice to have and means I can use the card in Asia, but is not a must.

Thanks.
It's not $20 per year for JAL USA CARD if you want to earn 1 mile per USD spent. You will need to pay $70 per year.

Just get the SPG Amex and enjoy while it lasts. Amex definitely provides better service and has better technology.
