Had a wonderful award stay at the Nicosia Hilton from 2-6 May. Although only HH Gold, we had a room in the executive wing with the welcoming wine, fruit and water and a decent city view from the balcony. The executive lounge was a real bonus. It was great to return after a day of sight-seeing to George and his gin and tonics. The breakfasts, while little varied, were also a great start to the day. The spa was a real plus as well.
The walk to the old city is about 20 minutes downhill. Driving to the south and west is easy. Can get to dinner in the Troodos in about 75 minutes. Had 2 very bad experiences driving in North Nicosia, but otherwise day trips to Kyrenia and to Famagusta/Salamis are easy.
My point is - the Hilton is a great central base from which to tour Cyprus, and on a down day Nicosia itself is a good place to hang out.
