IME the standard hasn't changed, the escort is still there although I don't actually care one way or the other. BA First provides everything I need to get me to where I have to be. I'm not buying an experience, I'm buying transportation. If people really want bells and whistles when they travel, perhaps they'd be best served using other airlines. It will stop an awful lot of stress and frustration.
We will agree to differ then as my experience has changed. The main point you make is that you are buying transportation not an experience which would suggest you are indifferent as to which class or airline you travel. I also book transportation but pay extra so that my transportation experience - principally sleep - is a good one.
No need for the "if you don't like it go elsewhere" jibe.
