CPH-Flyer,
JALPak, thank you very much. Basically answered all my questions within minutes (and I spent maybe an hour trying to figure out the rules with pretty messy JMB website).

As you can't change route for an award, you can't add domestic legs to the booking. You can do a separate booking for the flights you need. With the disadvantages that gives.
Revenue ticketd open about two months out, but the saki toku 75 fares can be booked, but not issued further in advance.
I did book with JMB miles (that's why I'm asking in a related forum). I'm just absolutely not experienced with JMB (miles were transferred from SPG). Too bad I didn't know I could've booked an entire piece including domestic legs. I remembered that domestic flights were being released for sale under some weird system with limited advance window. So I didn't even check whether I could book connecting legs (assuming no way 11 months in advance they might be available). For the next time, is a stopover in Tokyo allowed if I book RT limited days business class award ticket?
As for the advance window. I also was under impression it was 60 days out. However JAL is currently selling domestic tickets (with no intl connections) up until Oct 28, 2017, merely 110 day out. ANA is selling economy until Oct 28, 2017 as well, but business only 60 days out. All that got me confused pretty quickly.

Those flights are already open for sale if you use the Japan Explorer Pass.
Cancellation is not an option exactly because of a risk of loosing award space. It's better I spend extra $300 pp than loosing my longhaul tickets trying to save.
As far as I understand I can book only economy with Japan Explorer Pass. If so that wouldn't work for us (don't want to risk with dod upgrades, did it twice before and J class was always full).
