I gift them all the time and have not had a single one clear (actually embarrassing). Although instruments trump non-GS CPUs in and out of certain hubs GS PAX are numerous. Even as a 1K with RPU in place and a V class ticket yesterday from CLE - SFO on the 7:30AM flight I was #3/4 on the upgrade list. Of course it didn't clear as only one last F went to I assume some GS PAX. Also I have to suspect that numbers 1,2, and 3 were GS with/without instrument. Kind of surprised it didn't clear on that flight as it really isn't a business flight. Anyone leaving CLE for biz in SF cannot even check in to a hotel, you arrive at 9:30am. I've said it before if you are not GS out of SFO you may as well be freight. Leaving later this week SFO-KOA with RPU in place for months, of course still not cleared and not likely that it will.
