You're in rather good condition when it comes to points/miles and the flexibility of which program(s) you can redeem with.
One option may be to do am award ticket to a popular/nearby gateway destination with a few days there before heading to your final destination in Tanzania which I doubt is DAR but more than likely JRO or ZNZ.

PS, smart move on the avoiding credit apps for the refi.
