I was there this evening (a few hours ago), coming in on AF 71 from LAX at 5 PM. Arrived in terminal 2C, went to the lounge in 2D where my flight for MRS was leaving.
Everything seemed normal - all flights and arrivals seemed to be on time. Was itr not for my French friend telling me about the collapse when I called him from the lounge, I would have had no clue.
Apparently part of the collapse was at the point where many US bound paxes gather in front of the gate after clearing security and it could have become an even bigger disaster had it happened on a Weekday and/or later around the early departures for the US with Delta or AF And yet, 6 people died.
According to my friend, this will put a lot of stress on the other terminals as 2E of course is closed, but as of 12 hours later, things were running as smotthly as I have ever seen them run in CDG
