My only comment is I note that people have been Marriott Platinums for years, in some cases over ten, yet the biggest issue to them every one of those years is the lack of suite upgrades.
Now I know Starwood properties are no-where near as prevalent as Marriott properties are, but if it really chafes your chaps so much, why do you do 100 nights a year with Marriott? Is it corporate requirement?
I'm lucky to make 25 nights a year, so before Marriott dropped the rate to 10, I never saw Silver, much less Gold or Platinum, so the only time I see a suite is when I take advantage of the $400/night Executive Suite convention rate at the San Diego Marriott and Marina during Comic Con weekend. But I still give Marriott properties the majority of my nights because I find their full-service properties to be consistently great.
I've had great Hilton stays and fair ones. I've had good Hyatt stays and fair ones. But I've always had great Marriott stays and find Courtyards as good as HGIs (I wish the Courtyards had the refrigerator that HGI's do, but Courtyards have free internet - usually wireless).
