I was just opening a booking in Manage Booking, and there was a translucent overlay while it was loading that said "We're checking if you're eligible to make an Upgrade Bid"
I wasn't able to get this to happen again, but I had a look at the Page Source and I was able to find this text in the code. There is also reference to plusgrade so looks like they are using the same system provider as other airlines eg QF.
So looks like it's almost here.
EDIT: On the view manage booking page it also says "You can also use your Asia Miles to make an offer". This isn't hidden. So you'll be able to bid with asia miles as well. This appears on a K class booking. I have another S class bookingm and a E class booking, and the "Seat Upgrade" section doesn't appear. So I suspect you can only bid to upgrade those fare classes which are currently eligible for Asia Miles upgrade.
I only have an I class booking in my MMB right now so unable to check...
But re AM bid offer.... I'm wondering what would be the difference v.s. AM upgrade redemption...
If it requires more AM than upgrade redemption: Doesn't make sense at all
So it will need less AM than upgrade redemption... So I assume AM upgrade redemption will be cleared first? So the bid will only be open at T-7 days when all waitlist is flushed away... If a bid is available what if I'm willing to pay full AM upgrade redemption miles to get an upgrade? Will I get instance upgrade clearance?
Waiting for more details...
EDIT: ok my booking actually shows the box relating to AM upgrade... The link currently take me back to AM upgrade redemption page... Maybe it will go somewhere else later...
