The T&C don't mention not accruing points but specifically address the upgrade benefit - I don't understand why you would even suspect that rack rate wouldn't accrue points. I'm not sure that I understand why SPG felt compelled to address the upgrade benefit because if the hotel is sold out, I would think that most Platinum guests already realize that our upgrade chances are even further reduced. Plus,a room upgrade is not a guaranteed benefit anyway.
