I like the idea of priority boarding so there is more chance to have room in the overhead. But I'm pretty sure on some flights they will make us gate check our bags.

I think we could be happy "in the back". I just think it's worth asking about. I do understand and agree with your idea of keeping the money and spending it on something worthwhile, like a nice meal at our destination, dinner at the airport on the way, etc.

Curious what other people might think.
