Brilliant performance by Schiphol - see this article in Het Parool about the introduction of the separate lane that's discussed here.

Look at the second photo there - notice anything? The sign says "No trolleys, no backpacks". Who turns left? Right, a guy with a backpack.

Now Schiphol might say "only big backpacks are banned" - which leaves the question of what constitutes a "big" backpack. How hard can it be to have hard-and-fast rules?
