I may have a reference point for that. Have just booked LGW-KIN (BA Holidays) and selected our CW seats. OK, the LGW 777 airframe lottery makes that 'theoretical' seating, as we know only too well!

Outbound (26 Feb) shows CW Rows 1-4 and 10-11 in typical config for a 772ER 40J.
Inbound (7 Mar) shows Row 1-4 only in CW, all in 2-4-2 layout, albeit with no indication of 'tapering' or a Galley at the front of the cabin (??).

It looks like a manifestation of the new, densified, 3-class.
